Anxiety

A prayer for anxious moments

Words to pray when worry will not be quiet and your heart needs somewhere to rest.

Philippians 4:6-7Psalm 94:19

Father, my thoughts are loud and my chest is tight. You see the worry I cannot put into words.

I bring it to you now, all of it, and I ask for a peace I cannot manufacture on my own. Quiet the part of me that races ahead into tomorrow. Hold me in this single moment, where you already are.

Thank you that you do not ask me to be calm before I come, only to come. Guard my heart and my mind, and let me rest in you.

Amen.

When to pray this

Pray it slowly, once through, then again more slowly. If your mind wanders back to what worries you, let that worry be the next thing you hand to God, rather than a reason to start over.

Pray it with Sellah

Sellah can read this aloud in a calm voice and gently invite you back to prayer at the times you choose.
